We watched President Obama last night. He is brilliant.

He is so correct that insurance company's have to be stopped
from canceling people's insurance due to serious illness or
pre-existing conditions.

Joe Wilson is a idiot, one republican even calling him
a goobar? I tried the dictionary for that and could not
find a exact spelling.

Joe Wilson lied. Fact Check after the speech pointed
out that it is Joe Wilson that lied.

One reporter said he needs to apologize, resign or leave
leave the country. He was also called out by John McCain.

I have been following this insurance reform very carefully.
Everyone should have insurance. It should not be a privilege.

We are very fortunate that we have insurance. Very good insurance.
Are we afraid we will lose it? No not at all. Anyone who keeps them
selves informed and does not buy into the republicans crap knows that
they are not going to lose their insurance.

People like Sarah Palin should be fined or jailed every time she opens
her mouth and lies. But this is America and free speech and such.

But there is also libel. Sue her ass she will have the money now.
She has quickly become a even bigger joke than when she was running

It's only a matter of time before schools, Evansville in particular
in Wisconsin start to really see students departing the traditional
brick and mortar for virtual, online classes.

It is partially their own fault. What does Evansville really
offer ,, not much.. Pretty damn depressing.

Their curriculum at the high school is embarrassingly behind
and not enough options.

The class offerings at the Junior high are a joke.

Our friends moved to Cross Plains 4 years ago. The first
thing they noticed the big difference was how far behind
their daughter was in Math compared to Cross Plains students.

This is a girl who is now a Senior in High School and has the
world at her feet.. She is a A++ student. Very bright.
She will be able to go to school where ever she chooses..
She is also a three sport student,, so brains and athletic.

Cross Plains may be larger, but they keep all classes to 20 or less.
Many options in Curriculum at even the Junior High level. They are
exposed to so much more in terms of learning opportunity's.

The virtual schools offer so much more than Evansville its very sad and
Pathetic. Just where are they spending our tax money?

Remember we have the second highest school tax levy in the
county, so where is the money going?

It will be just a matter of time before Evansville starts to see and
feel the loss of students due to their own negligence.

We got a letter today from Evansville Water&Light.. WHY did it take
SO LONG for them to inform residents that there IS/WAS
coliform bacteria in the water????

What the heck.. There are many babies in this town
that the water is used to make the formula.

Nursing mothers, elderly, people whose immune
systems are not well to begin with , Children..

Take a look at the date on the letter and how long
they took to tell us.

IF any story should have been sent to the gazette this would be it.

They are asking for trouble by not informing people immediately.

Judges Are Getting Disgusted.

I have included a article about different Judges from around
the country who are getting tired of these banks not following the
rules and laws who are trying to foreclose on homes.

But we have a couple right here in our area who have done
the same thing.

My husband works with a guy in Madison, has worked with
him for years. His wife lost her job a year ago and they have
struggled ever since, with her making quite a bit more than he.

Then ended up in foreclosure and in court. When they went
to court they brought with him the receipts from when they
sent all sorts of paper work to their servicer trying to get their
loan modified. The receipts was from the mailings and the
servicer had to sign for the paperwork.. They could prove they
had been trying to work with the servicer for some time now.
and had been ignored. NOT even a rejection letter saying they
did not qualify. NOTHING.

This Dane County Judge was less than amused.
He questioned the lawyer for the servicer who had
phoned himself in , was not there in person. OF
course this lawyer pleaded ignorance. It would seem
he knew nothing of the attempts by this borrower
to work with the server. Or so he said.

The judge was once again not amused.

He told this lawyer for the servicer that they
best start attempting to work with the borrower
and would have to show him WHY they do not
qualify for loan modification under Obama's Plan
if that is what they tried to come back into the
court saying.

He let this lawyer know that IF they came back
into his court room saying this family did not
qualify, he better be ready to show how they
did not qualify or they would be sent to mediation.

As this Judge told this lawyer.. " This is a long way
from being over , so I suggest you get to work."

After not hearing from the servicer in months except
for when they called them.. Within two days, they heard
from the servicer. They were asked to 'remail' the paperwork.

Another court appearance which was continued
and 6 weeks later they had a loan modification.

WHAT really should make people angry is this was
a servicer who TOOK stimulus money, to do just
that LOAN MODIFICATIONS. They want the tax payer
homes and the tax money... It is basically theft, fraud some
of these servicers are trying to pull off.

Judge's are wising up.. We are very happy for this
family that has never done anything but work hard and fell
on hard times like so many.

What Kind Of Restaurant Would You Support?

Paul Revere's is back in town. I for one am glad.
We would order from at least 1-2 times a month
when they were in town before.

But seriously as someone else brought up, what
would it take to get a decent solid restaurant in
town?

It's a hard thing to ask in this economy.

But we have found Outback and Texas Roadhouse
as our favorites of late.

But how nice would it be to have a steak house in
town again.

We do have pizza places, which it depends on the day on the quality
of food you get from them.

We have sub places, Subway and Rock and Rollz which both
have really good subs, but how many subs can one person
eat , before that gets old.

A chinese place. Which my husband and kids like. I have never
been a fan though.

The deli is town, we got food there a couple different times
and will never do it again. So many things I could say about
that deli and I won't, I am being kind.

A coffee shop that even though I do not drink much
coffee , they did serve good breakfasts.

We need a good solid steak house. I really liked the Coach House.
Then it switched hands a couple times, and it was good, but I never
thought it was a good as the Coach House. But at least we had one.

I think eventually we will again, it will be a nice change.

What Other 'RULES' Do They Break..

I wanted to do a 'happy' dance, but I was too disgusted
to do one.

I found out what I was correct about there being too
many kids in the resource room at the HIGH SCHOOL.

Two years ago this fall, I went to Heidi Carvin after calling
six different schools in the area.

At the time there was only ONE resource room for E.B.D.
and it was failing. She had to many cases and some were
neglected and I.E.P.'s were being violated. ( Which a district
can be sued for under civil rights)

Part of the problem was this teacher could not admit she
needed help. They tried to give her help at one point and she
drove this aid out by telling lies..

This teacher is a huge control freak and can not admit when she
is wrong.

Anyway both the Dept of Wisconsin Public Inst, and another
special ed teacher from another district, (Brodhead) told me
there are caps on how many students could be in resource, E.B.D.
room. Evansville was violating that cap,, over and over again.

Brodhead who came the closest to our student count at the
H.S. , was one of the six districts I had checked with. They had
3 resource rooms. THREE,, NOT ONE ,,, had over twenty
students in it... Not one. AT ANY ONE TIME... HAD over
twenty.

NONE of the districts I checked with bigger or smaller had
more than 20 students in it at anyone time.. NOT ONE.

At the time Evansville's E.B.D. had over 30, at one point I was
told by staff 35.

So besides breaking attendance laws and at the time this
resource room caps,, what other rules do you think they break????

At the same time telling kids,, behave yourselves follow the rules.

By the way after taking the time to meet with Heidi and show her
the numbers she did nothing. Because she knew they were in the
wrong and had no desire to fix it, neither did krista Jones. Just kept
breaking the caps... a major violation.

I will add in closing that last year a part time teacher was added to
help with this issue, not a a aid, but a teacher.. This school year this
teacher was suppose to be added full time. They will be looking at
adding another teacher in the next few years.

How are they paying for this?/?? Stimulus funds for the special
education ,,, just like they should..

About time. The kids deserve better.

Not So Much 20

There was a certain school board member who
last week tried to tell me that along with only a
1.1% increase they were keeping class sizes
to 20 or less.

Imagine my surprise when talking with my
daughters teachers and being told , we all have
a few more kids in our class this year. 25 to be
exact.

The teacher's I was talking to just kind
of shared this look.

Well I knew this was not true, as when my
son was in H.S. he had a senior English class
that had almost 30

But then again this board member was trying
to impress someone with the less than 2% increase.

Which is not impressive being we are sitting on top
of the Rock with Clinton as it is.

Evidently there are loans that WE tax payers will
be done paying in 2014? and 2021? The H.S. being
in 2021....

So all tax payers would expect the school's tax
to drop substantially .. We tax payers deserve a
huge break from the schools spending ways.

I am sure they think they have kept things in check, but
they did not have a choice, did they? They have already
done their spending years ago.

So I don't know if this board member is just misinformed
or is trying to make people believe they are doing a better
job than they are.

But don't tell people you are keeping classes to
20, when all you have to do is look around, ask
some teachers.

Like I stated earlier nice try at giving them selves a 'pat' on
the back. Not working with anyone who is really paying
attention.

This coach definitely has some responsibility in this young man's death.
He denied this young man, and others water on a very hot, hot, day. But
I bet he would have given his dog water. The guy may have been a great
coach but great coaches make mistakes and need to help accountable. Someone
died.

It's funny how when something goes very wrong , no one thinks they are to blame.
If this young man had died from a undetected physical ailment, like a heart issue
it would be different. But this young man died due to this coaches actions.
Its is just very tragic.

Hiring of a police officer, is not like hiring a farm hand.
No offense to farm hands because there is no harder work.

But there is a big difference in terms of what one needs to
look for in character, ethics, education, mental awareness,
and family situation.

I will say its about time they raised the bar when hiring.

I like the section of interviewing the applicants significant
other, in a job like this one's spouse or significant other plays
a very important part and it important to know if they fully
support their partner in this career choice and know whats

Evansville lost another young person, last night.

I don't think anyone will ever make sense of it.

I remember that age. It was a hard time.

But we just kept moving forward.

But my heart just breaks for her parents.

If your child was a friend of this young girl or
they just want to talk about what happened. The
school is offering counseling for anyone who
would just like to go in and talk.

Both Thursday and Friday from 1-3 p.m.
At the middle school.

Our thoughts and prays are with her family & friends.

A Hard Battle..

I was sad to learn that Evansville lost a very
talented young man this last week. I have heard
so many, many positive things about him this last
week.

He suffered from bi-polar disorder. My heart goes
out to his family. Bi- polar is a ugly disease and
its hard to diagnose and at times even harder to
treat.

Our thoughts and prays go out to his family and friends.

It is a struggle for anyone with bi-polar disorder
day in and day out. It breaks a parents heart
to watch a child struggle with this. It's not fair.

We are walking in those shoes. It's hard.
We have been to many Psych, and our son
has been on numerous medications.

It is a on going battle within themselves.

I think we often ignore, look the other way or maybe
some even make fun of things they don't understand.

One of those things is mental illness. What people
like to forget is a person does not choose to have a
mental illness.

Many people go undiagnosed for years, some never
seek treatment.

Some people can't seek treatment as not all insurance
covers mental health.

WHEN it does cover mental health its a fraction
in term of limits compared to physical health.

Things have to change.

early this morning in a motor vehicle accident.

Mike, known to most as ' Sands' was the most polite,
nicest kid .

He was always there for his friends, he will be missed by

IT would seem as though they think they need to
go to a luncheon and conference put on by the
League of WI. Municipalities

It costs to go to this function, not including
travel expenses.

This is just one of the foolish things they spend
money on and could easily be stopped.

So when they start mandating furloughs
which furloughs should be mandated not
voluntary or it won't work.

So when these furloughs start make sure
you ask the mayor ( or who ever else
is going how her lunch was at
this event.

Such a easy way to save money..
cut the unnecessary trips.

I think they just like the idea of being
there more than they care what its
all about.

suggestions is too many employees in
some areas and too many toys.

All suggestions that should be easy to
put in place.

When the furloughs start coming in to play
they should remember who they have to
thank..

Foolish spending by our council and mayor
who seems to like the latest, pretty things,
(pinwheel idea, electric vehicles, lake, rumble
strip, over budget on road projects.)

But does not know how to pay for them.

NO more extras as these extras very well
could and will cost people income or jobs.

For a town whose budget is int he hole they should not

We went out last night for supper with friends.
The conversation of course at the bar& around our
table was Brett Favre.

I have to admit. I don't blame him for playing.
The Packers did not want him. Their mistake.

He has the right to play.
He says its not for revenge. I hope not.
If it is I think it will back fire on him .
Nothing good comes from revenge.

I do wish he just would have come out in
the spring and said, I am going to play
for the Vikings.

I do believe if the Packers have another crappy
season, or if they lose to the Vikings heads will
role.. Thompson can kiss his ass and job good bye.
McCarthy probably will know by mid season if
he should be polishing up his resume.

When I woke up this a.m. my husband had
put up a screen saver of Brett&Donald Driver
in a hug with a quote by Donald..

Very Good Suggestions..

The Observer has a list of suggestions that was sent in
to the city regarding budget cuts.

Some very well thought out suggestions.

I have a couple thoughts on some of them as well.

Public Works:
1. W&L could share equipment with Public Works which would spread out those purchases for DPW equipment to later dates.
2. In the winter if there is no snow what exactly do they do? How come I see hired summer help doing all the work while the full time year around people stand around doing nothing? Lets cut the summer help and require the full time employees to do work. Let's create a work cycle in the winter where some work a second shift to reduce overtime for snow removal on a late afternoon shift.

Start w/ cuts w/ Water & Light. They have more employees and vehicles then any other city department. They have new buildings and many new pieces of equipment. When there is no building going on in the city why are we building them new buildings and buying them new vehicles? They hire out most of their work. Why am I seeing W&L employees weed whacking and mowing lawn? Do they not have enough of their own work to do? At a typical incident when I drive by I see 4 guys standing around talking while one is actually doing the work. What company has all new equipment and trucks when there is no new building going on? I think they are a vital part of our community I just think we could cut some of the positions to save money.

I agree on this one. Some times one has to wonder what the
hell they do all day, except drive around a lot.

It does seem like they have a excess of employees during the summer.
I think the city is to quick to hire family and friends during the summer.

The city owes no one a job. If its not needed. Employees should be
doubling up in duties in some areas so there is not a need
for so many employees.

Parks:
1. Reduce mowing frequency of city parks; this may keep the city from hiring a seasonal worker or two in the PW Department for 2010.
2. Sell the city-owned parkland on S. 4th street (near the college apartments) to a developer.

Excellent idea.. The grass needs to be a reasonable length, but it
would not hurt it to get some length to it.. It always has a buzz hair cut.

Cemetery:
1. Council should consider an increase in cemetery fees. The cemetery should not be a drain on finances but should provide income to the city or be sold to a private group.

Thais a good idea as well. But if you are going to charge more fees they
need to do a better job of keeping it up. IF you go to the back of the cemetery
there actually headstones./grave markers you can not see as they are
covered up by over grown bushes.

Police:
1. Examine very seriously the possibility of cutting staff at the police department -- I've been looking over the "incident reports" in the Review. It appears that there are less than two incidents per hour, and a size able fraction of those are assisting people or handling phone messages at 535 E. Main, where the Police Station currently sits. How many people are necessary to handle two incidents per hour? Another size able number of incidents are "security checks". Exactly what does this mean -- a cop in a car drives by a place? There have been over 40 in the last two weeks at Antes Drive. Does this mean a cop drives through the park about 3 times a day? Each counts as an "incident"? Maybe I'm way off base, but please look into staff reduction at the PD.
2. Sell the current police station on Main St and move operations to the old fire station as soon as possible. Perhaps some consolidation of services could result from closer proximity of PD to the City Hall.

First the calls to the park I am sure are due to KIDS. Once school
is back in session I think we will see those seriously decline.

I do think time could be managed better. Especially when they
can and do request back up from Rock County. Other police
dept's are cutting staff and pay and that is one area that has
to be looked at.

. Everyone getting a paycheck from the city should take a day off. Everyone: the council, the administrator, the judge, all the employees. Whether you make $10 or $50 an hour it will add up and everyone is sharing in it.

Absolutely... I do not see how they can not do this. It's one of the easiest
things to do.

Why does the city have a city human resource director?? Each dept should
be fully capable of handling the same functions this person covers. From
hiring, to back ground checks, to insurance issues, to employee handbooks,
which really should be done by the city administrator anyway. This position
could be eliminated without alot of pick up by anyone else if its spread out
to the different dept heads.

Quit hiring relatives of current city employees.. Many cities
around the nation have already implemented a policy of not
hiring relatives of anyone who currently works for their city
its considered, to be ' obstruction in office' , and creates
ethics concerns. I think when you start hiring relatives, you
over hire, hire people who are not qualified , but hire them
because you want to give them a job.

These were all very good ideas. Lets see how many
the city follow through on, or if the idea of asking
citizens for suggestions was just a bunch of ..

IN the last week I have spoke to 3 families with school
age children who are moving out of the district, due to
their job situation.

One family, he works for G.M. and has to go to Kansas
or get nothing. No retirement, No Pay..

They have 3 school age kids..

Another just got a job in Milwaukee, after looking
for months around here... 3 more school age kids..

Another G.M. worker with 4 school age kids going to
Kansas.. and this is just people I know of..

I think this is just the beginning of people leaving.
Looking for work, or having found work.

Rock County has one of the highest unemployment
rates in the state. I don't think the school should be
in such a hurry or worry to build. Not that it will happen
anyway ,, maybe in twenty years.

After speaking with Brenda at the D.O.T. &
then going and reading and reading again
the article the Gazette did on the stimulus
money for the road.

I am very disappointed in the job that was
done on this article.

Two very important things were left out of
that article.

1. ' spot replacement' two words that make
it a lot different than the wording that was
used in the article.

The article implied all the curb and gutter
would be paid for with stimulus money, it
is not.

2. She never explained how the roads were
chosen, and that was a point of disgust
with several. Several were upset that
their streets were not being done with this
stimulus money , there was no
explanation as to how these streets were
chosen.

I think that had those two different points been
made, no one would have thought twice about
this project. I don't know if our city administrator
needs to be more clear when talking with reporters
or if maybe the reporter should have taken more time
with this article.

It did not sound right and that's why I made
the call to the D.O.T. as did a couple of people.

I know the D.O.T. found it misleading, as did many.

I Got A Call From The D.O.T.. ..

I got a call from Brenda today from the
D.O.T.. she had read the article in the Janesville
Gazette. She felt as well there is a lot of
'misinformation' out there.

First of all the reason its West Main St,
and Fourth Street is those were the only
streets in town that qualified for stimulus
funding.

THE reason these were the only two eligible
roads was the amount of traffic they see.

Garfield street does not see near the traffic
as fourth, that is just a example I will use.
So fourth wins and will be re done.

Now that being said.. the people on 4th & W.Main
have not seen any traffic compared to E.Main.

Second,, the stimulus money is NOT to be
used for over curb and gutter replacement.

The article in the Gazette should have
stated its for spot replacement only, and it
did not and that led to alot of confusion

IF THEY TRY TO TO REPLACE ALL THE CURB
AND GUTTERS USING STIMULUS FUNDS THIS
PROJECT WILL NOT BE FUNDED.

SPOT REPLACEMENT ONLY..

FOR THE AREA THAT DOES HAVE SPOT REPLACEMENT
THE CITY CAN NOT CHARGE THOSE HOME OWNERS.

BUT SPOT REPLACE MENT ONLY...

I talked with Brenda Schoenfeld today at the D.O.T.
It would seem as though someone is trying to mislead
or out right lie about the stimulus money the city is
receiving for road construction.

The BIGGEST thing is it IS NOT FOR CURB AND
GUTTER REPLACEMENT FOR ALL.... only where
needed.

IT is not to be used for total curb and gutter replacement.

That seems to be the spin the city is trying to put on it.

It's funny what you learn when you follow up on their comments.

The actual amount being allowed for construction is 480,000..
the state is waiting on the actual bid to see if comes in under that
any thing over that the city has to pay.

They are allowed a additional 120.000 for items related to the
construction of these roads.

They were also not 'awarded' this money as someone tried to
state on the Observer.. They applied for it just like everyone else.

I suggest we all get out there and walk and check out the curb
and gutters. If something is broken or in bad shape that would
qualify as 'spot replacement' I plan on taking pictures.

IF there is fraud or abuse of the stimulus funds it is to be reported.

Did you go to some of the garage sales

It was fun.

We joined up with a friend in Country Side
between our families we took in a little
more than a 1000 bucks.. I was shocked.

But there was plenty to choose from all
marked reasonable.

And there was plenty of people.

I was disappointed could not find the
F.F.A. food stand..

Why not?? What a terrific opp.. for
fund raising, we had a couple people
ask about it, if it was still up town..

But our friend sold some very yummy
brats and made over $ 200.00 just
with that so he benefited from them not
being around.

It was fun though, good deals.

since Friday.. When I checked out what it was
people were going to it was the Kelly Drew/ Tim
Hack post.

I read yesterday that before the murder
of Tim Drew and Kelly Hack this guy was a
suspect in murders in Portland , Oregon.

He led a life of crime..everything from burglary
to murder.

But we have watched people from all over
the country checking out our blog regarding
the arrest of this man and this almost 30
year old crime.

I think it definitely helps when C.N.N. mentions
our blog as one of the blogs covering the story.

I am very glad to hear his mother will have
custody of the kids.. I just don't think Debbie

I don't think this is a bad thing at all. If these companies are going to
take the governments money they need to be held accountable.

Not just do as they please.

Not saying they have to modify every loan that comes along
or refinance it. But when dealing with the government and taking
their money as these banks have, they need to answer to just
what they are doing and why.

I heard on the news this a.m. that some banks are
that are participating in Obama's plan are still
foreclosing on homes instead of modifying them.

So I am hoping the government is keeping a very
close eye on how much money they gave these
companies and what money they don't use
modifying loans they have to give back. Every
last dime needs to be accounted for.

I think some of these banks just looked at it
as big pay day.

We watched the news conference the Police Captain & Union
had. What a joke. They had it to basically say they are
supporting this officer.. What else could they do?

If anything it they were awfully defensive because
according to them, they do no wrong. How dare any
one question them. Laughable at best.

They were also asked by a reporter about all the
racial profiling that goes on in the neighborhood
of the Professor and they had no answer.

So this happening in this neighborhood in particular
is no surprise.

It is nice to see that Obama reached out to this
Officer. Shows he has more class than the entire
group of police & Union reps that spoke at the press
conference today.

friend but I have not heard how long they have been friends. Not
that it matters.

No I don't think he should have made the comments he
did on National T.V. that is.

I think the situation would have been better served had
he called this officer's supervisor and expressed his concerns.

I also don't like seeing the race card played, when its not
warranted. Not every altercation between a officer and
any person of color is race related.

But from what I have read, this officer blew his
stack quickly and it escalated quickly.

The guy was in his own house. You would think

But yet when people voiced concern all along they were ignored.

The city council did this with their frivolous spending
and failing to see beyond their own nose, much less
tomorrow.

I do believe the high school has a economics class both
they and the school board should be required to sit in on

I have said it before and I will say it again, they are bankrupting
this town.

As for furloughs. Not a bad idea if its a furlough and not a
lay off. Would it not be sad if the city council's spending costs
people their job.

But with a furlough it could be planned weeks to months in
advance. People can budget for that time.

My friend at the state is going to have to take furlough days
and is planning on using them to her advantage. Getting
some projects done around the house she has been wanting
to do.

The next time you see your city council member and Mayor
make sure you thank them for this mess.

Listening to this video audio one has to
wonder if Sandy Spanton is not just a
little bitter she did not get her way
two years ago?

When she wanted to have a off campus
prom.

As far as parents getting involved?

Many have tried, and met walls and
frustration when dealing with the school.

It's almost like they ask and say they
want parent
participation, and then when they get it
they make things difficult.

These teachers and staff need to remember
whose kids these are and who pays their
salary. Why it is they have a job.

Why it is they are there.. Its not to relive
their own high school days.
