I hope everyone takes the warnings to heart and they get out
with time to spare.
But being they have had warning, I hope those with pets
have taken them with or made other safe arrangements.
All those animals after hurricane Katrina. Lost, injured, sick, dead.
I hope more shelters are more receptive to animals this time around.
Some people will stay in their homes and die with their animals before
Lets keep everyone in our prays.
the Big Ten Network.. I don't know when Direct moved the channel
but they did. I thought there is no way they would get rid of it
after all the crap Charter took.
I thought they looked good.. Defense gave up some plays they
should not have, and the ball got turned over.
But nothing awful happened..
P.J. Hill is awsome...
now in Janesville this weekend.
We don't know very many details about what happened in Janesville. But
Edgerton, its clear the man was having some serious issues. Plenty of
But NO one ever thinks someone would take their life much less someone
else's. It does not seem like that should be in human nature. I noticed in
the article in the Janesville Gazette today, Rock County crisis wanted to make
it clear they had, had no contact with him.
Mental illness is extremely misunderstood by many from Adhd, to schizophrenia
IF it does not effect them they do not care.
In the Edgerton case people were so quick to blame the police.. WHY???
They removed him and took him to Rock County Crisis.
It is not their job, to detain for 72 hours, its Rock County Crisis.
The police are there to make sure everyone is safe, and the person
does not hurt them selves or anyone else.
They relay what they saw or heard the person say to crisis.
Mental health care takes MONEY> A lot of insurance does not cover it
or you are very limited in what type of care you can get.
Many insurance company's do not cover mental health medications.
So it is not always as simple as take your meds. First you have to be
to get them.
Rock County Crisis needs a huge over haul. If someone is taken in
for a eval. MANY times they are released. They tell the worker what
the worker wants to hear, and they let them go. They let them go...
Now sometimes when someone is taken in there, they do calm down, it
was just the situation they were in had them wound. But getting them
a way from the situation they have time to think, and calm down.
But as we saw a couple of weeks ago , they let someone who had a history
of mental issues, and they let him go. The system failed.
He had been picked up twice within a few days for mental health issues
and they let him go.
I wonder what he said. " I promise to be good." " Honest."
So if I ever were given the chance to speak with Mr.Barack Obama I would
have many questions for him about mental health care, and health care in
You have to live with someone who had mental health issues before you really
can understand that it is very real. People who are mentally ill do not 'ask' for
it anymore than some one who has cancer.
It is just easier to get treatment for cancer than mental health.
There are many people who show their true ignorance by assuming that
people who are mentally ill can control it. No more than someone with cancer.
I recently sent a friend I worked with at American Family a goofy email. She
and I had desks right next to each other, and we became very good friends quickly.
She and I had one big thing in common. We both have family members who have a
When I got her reply from my email I was saddened to hear that her husband
who has battled severe depression for years, had tried to commit suicide AGAIN
and was in the hospital.
I had to ask her, if she feared for her or her daughters safety, Or if she thought
her husband would ever harm them. But then again, its not in our nature to
think someone is going to hurt us who is our loved one.
She said she has no fears about that, but fears one day he will succeed and
her daughter would find him.
She realizes one day he may succeed. He has been battling this for almost
8 years now. Many meds they have tried, different doctors.
It is very real.
My heart goes out to anyone dealing with family members or friends
battling mental disease. You are not a lone.
My heart also goes out to those who CHOOSE not to understand, because
it does show just how ignorant you are. It might surprise these people
to know they are hardly perfect..

I can not imagine why anyone would want to stay.
Our thoughts and prays are with those effected, I can not imagine
those who went through hurricane Katrina what they are thinking
and going through.
Yesterday was John McCain's 72nd birthday. If elected, he'd be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for "inexperience," here's who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing religious conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.
? Here's some basic background:
- She was elected Alaska 's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.1
- Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.2
- She supported right-wing extremist
- Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.4
- She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.5
- She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more in Alaska.6
- How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.7
This is information the need to see. Please take a moment to forward this email to your friends and family.
We also asked Alaska MoveOn members what the rest of us should know about their governor. The response was striking. Here's a sample:
She is really just a mayor from a small town outside Anchorage who has been a governor for only 1.5 years, and has ZERO national and international experience. I shudder to think that she could be the person taking that 3AM call on the White House hotline, and the one who could potentially be charged with leading the US in the volatile international scene that exists today. —Rose M., Fairbanks, AK
She is VERY, VERY conservative, and far from perfect. She's a hunter and fisherwoman, but votes against the environment again and again. She ran on ethics reform, but is currently under investigation for several charges involving hiring and firing of state officials. She has NO experience beyond Alaska. —Christine B., Denali Park, AK
As an Alaskan and a feminist, I am beyond words at this announcement. Palin is not a feminist, and she is not the reformer she claims to be. —Karen L., Anchorage, AK
Alaskans, collectively, are just as stunned as the rest of the nation. She is doing well running our State, but is totally inexperienced on the national level, and very much unequipped to run the nation, if it came to that. She is as far right as one can get, which has already been communicated on the news. In our office of thirty employees (dems, republicans, and nonpartisans), not one person feels she is ready for the V.P. position.—Sherry C., Anchorage, AK
She's vehemently anti-choice and doesn't care about protecting our natural resources, even though she has worked as a fisherman. McCain chose her to pick up the Hillary voters, but Palin is no Hillary. —Marina L., Juneau, AK
I think she's far too inexperienced to be in this position. I'm all for a woman in the White House, but not one who hasn't done anything to deserve it. There are far many other women who have worked their way up and have much more experience that would have been better choices. This is a patronizing decision on John McCain's part- and insulting to females everywhere that he would assume he'll get our vote by putting "A Woman" in that position.—Jennifer M., Anchorage, AK
So global warming denier who shares John McCain's commitment to Big Oil. And she's dramatically inexperienced. is a staunch anti-choice religious conservative. She's a
In picking Sarah Palin, John McCain has made the religious right very happy. And he's made a very dangerous decision for our country.Thank You Move On, for sharing this information with us, as know one knows who she IS>>>>

picked the little known Gov. from Alaska. I was floored.
Who the hell is she?
This lady on Larry King last night tried saying she is the
most popular Gov. in the United States. Like Hell she is.
Who is she?
The other point that was brought up was McCain has only
met her once. Makes him seem incompetent. This lady
would not deny he has only met her once.
The Republicans can no longer talk about INEXPERIENCE
she has little to none. ONLY in her second year.
Also how INSULTING TO WOMAN. He picked a woman
thinking it was going to win him votes.
The supporters that love Hillary.. LOVE Hillary. Not just
because she is a woman..
She is also PRO LIFE... This will back fire on him as well.
AS most all woman if put in that position, WANT, the
choice. Not someone telling them what they can do with
Some analysts are asking if this is his way of throwing in the
towel?? If there was reluctance on the other contenders to
join the McCain ticket..
Is this the Republicans way of getting her name in the
public for the next election.
Her husband is a snowmobile racer?? I don't know if that is
suppose to be his job??? But I guess its not different than
being a football player.
Biden will school her in debates. But respectfully.
He met her one time!!!!!!!!!!!,,,, does she even like him???
IF something happened to McCain(age, cancer) we would
Oh excuse me, she has been a MAYOR.. that would be like
one of our mayors being a United States V.P. candidate.
We would be so screwed..America would be screwed.
What a joke.
A sign of desperation.

more public. Two weeks before the fighting started between these
two, Karl Rove visited. People are now saying that georgia was given
the o.k., we have your back.
Then when it started they were not prepared for how it went, and backed
off. All a ploy to try to make people think McCain is ready to lead. To make
them think about who is more qualified to lead.
It just showed, how buddy , buddy mccain is with the bush cronies.
They have been talking about this on c.n.n., and radio talk shows.
making history. He nailed it. He went after John McCain
on many levels.
This speech has been called a master piece.
Some of have said this will be the turning point.
He was forceful yet respectful.
Some of the points I liked.
* John McCain talks about judgment, but thinks bush
was correct 90% of the time.
* Obama would be lowering taxes for 90% of Americans. That
is you and I.. As I don't think any of us are millionaires. The ones
who will be effected by Obama's plans.
* Healthcare for everyone.
* Making sure all children get a education.
* Made it very clear this election is not about being patriotic
some thing john mccain has tried to hang his hat on to much,
just shows desperation on his part.
* Quit relying on other for fuel, expand other options.
Making it clear off shore drilling is nothing but a ploy
by John McCain.
* Fight the correct wars. Not creating false fears.
I think it has always been very clear. McCain try's to portray
Obama as a celebrity, but really McCain has lead a much more
charmed life than Obama ever has.
McCain is nothing more than a bush wanna be. He can not deny it.
That is his buddy, he voted with him 90% of the time. We don't need
another 4 years of the mccain-bush show.
Wow did they pack them in there last night. While they have to bus
people into john mccain's appearances.
Who do you think john mccain will pick for his v.p.. poor guy.
I was listening to them talk about the possibility's , they found
problems with most anyone he can pick. Problems republicans
pointed out as well as democrats.

This lighthouse was actually in Michigan they are only two minutes from Michigan
where my sister lives. I love lighthouses. They have such history. USEFUL
history. This light house was transplanted years ago to this spot. It had been on
a island out in the middle of Lake Michigan.
Very beautiful and interesting piece of history.
What 'extra' are they really learning. From what I have witnessed
it gives the kids the opportunity to do their homework in class. A plus
for the kids.
I found it interesting the comments in the article that they
are reducing the requirements for graduation? So what does
that tell you?
I wonder if they have taken a good hard look at why their
enrollment is declining?
Evansville's enrollment has not progressed as much as was
anticipated five years ago, yet they are looking to build new
schools. Like that is going to happen. But they can dream.
The schools districts need to 'suck in' things may be a little tight.
but get over it, everyone is doing with less these days. Less room
at work as office spaces are consolidated, less employees to share
the work as some are laid off, less food, less gas, less money to play
with in general.. SUCK IT UP.
I have been in the middle school, and T.R.I.S. school and see wasted
space. How many conference rooms does one school need?
How big of offices do they need?
I sure hopes there plans for building are in the far future, anything
sooner than before five years will fail. This town just can not take it,
we are not that 'big'.
Kind of odd as the rest of us tighten budgets, the school looks to spend.
How does that work? Funny. Sad, but funny.

Michelle Obama is quite a lady. Very motivating and educated and
spiritual to go. She is a hell of a role model for young people . If you
have ever taken the time to listen to her speak. Incredible.
Sen. Ted. Kennedy lookin good. I wondered how he has been doing
as we really have not heard anything about him since he left the hospital.
He knows how to get a crowd going , excellent speaker and motivator as well.
We wish him well in his health battles.
We can only hope McCain keeps his damn barbie doll wife out of
sight. She makes me sick. She is as fake as she looks. Not believable
at all. I wonder if she knows how many houses they own???
asking for trouble. But starting today SOME students will not know if
there teacher is packing or not.
If these teachers are that scared for their safety they need to
get the hell out. They are the first to tell you they don't get paid
enough, so get out.
Guns have no place in schools around children or young adults.
What kind of role model are they? Cowards?
Start with expelling these kids who are so dangerous teachers
feel the need for guns. The law says these kids have to be in
school and some will do anything to get out of school what ever
it takes to get suspended or expelled to get out of school. So
expell them if they are that much of a threat.
There are to many options anymore for getting a high school
diploma that kids and teachers don't have to tolerate each
Virtual schools are a excellent option. But my guess is these kids
who are such bullys that they have teacher's bringing guns, have
no interest in getting a diploma. Sad.
I am sorry but regardless of what these kids are doing there can be
NO guns in school.. The next thing we will hear about is one of these
kids getting the gun away from a teacher and shooting many.
Then what? I told you so????
Believe me there would be plenty of that. Lawsuits to boot.

It is a very real topic. The articles I have read are done well.
But then in come the comments from ignorant people who think
it is there right to bash someone less fortunate than themselves.
People who if I may borrow the phrase ' sit in their underwear
and blog.' and judge others. Read that on another blog recently.
So for the first of the series Scott Agnus ends up pulling the comments
and scolds people for the type of comments being left.
So what does he do today when the next article in the series runs
he once again allows comments, like some of these people have taken
his words to heart and grown up.
This woman was set up from the time she agreed to do this article.
To report on the news, is great. But people do not as I have said
before have the 'right' to comment on all that they read.
The gazette never used to allow comments. What I have to wonder is
how is this benefiting them?? Is it about MONEY???
Because if I want some scandal I will pay the money for the National Enquirer
I expect to find trash in that piece embarrassing trash.
I always thought the Gazette wanted to be more respectable than
a national tabloid. But I guess not.
As long as they are getting their numbers and money.. they feel its justified.
Do the article, cut the comments.
Just made a bad situation worse.
Once again Scott, way to make that management decision.
Are the schools parking fees legal? I mean it is a PUBLIC school. IT is public property.
We are already paying taxes for this building and up keep. Parents in Marinette are questioning
just that, is it legal.
MARINETTE — Two topics on the agenda for tonight's Marinette Board of Education meeting are likely to draw comments.
The first is a request for a part-time assistant bookkeeper position.
"I'm reluctant to even bring this up," Pauline Borgen, business and finance manager, told the board's finance committee a week ago.
Borgen's office currently has two staffers. One logs a substantial amount of overtime, working additional hours on weekdays and often on Saturdays.
"Even with that, we have a pretty big backlog," Borgen said .
Borgen also noted her office is rushed, and needs more time to set up checks and balances in the system, avoid errors, reconcile insurance billings and monitor cash flow.
"From May through October-November, we're running our tails off," she said.
It's hard to collect overdue bills, Borgen noted.
"The longer you let a bill go, the harder it is to collect," she said."
Borgen seeks someone to handle payroll and insurance tasks. The position would be part-time, with no benefits. She estimates it would cost the district about $18,000 a year.
"I think the payoff will be there," she said.
Board member John LaCourt was supportive.
"We could be paying for this within a year," he said.
The second issue expected to draw comment is student parking fees.
Five years ago, fees were set at $50. The board doubled that cost in July.
To fight the increase, Marinette residents Jeff and Denise Sunstrom hired attorney Michael Perry, who contends charging for parking violates state law. Bob Burns, the district's lawyer, disagrees.
Denise Sunstrom is listed on the meeting agenda to discuss the issue. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
Board firm on $100 fee for parking
MARINETTE — The Marinette Board of Education stood firm on its controversial parking fee decision Monday, despite pleas from a lawyer who is contesting the fee on a pro bono basis.
In July, the board voted to double the fee from $50 to $100.
Two Marinette residents, Jeff and Denise Sunstrom, asked Attorney Michael Perry for an opinion on the matter.
Perry contends the fee is contrary to state law. The district's attorney, Bob Burns of Davis & Kuelthau SC, disagrees.
Perry spoke at Monday's school board meeting and urged the board to reconsider its decision.
"It bothers me that the board has started down a slippery slope imposing a fee on one segment, that being the students," said Perry.
Perry pointed to a DPI fact sheet on user fees, noting that the issue has arisen in other districts. He suggested the board seek further clarification from the Wisconsin Attorney General's office.
"We don't want to litigate with the school board," said Perry. "We are in this together. We are asking for clarification."
The fee was created five years ago when the district was beginning to seek ways to increase revenue.
"Hard times should not make bad laws," Perry said.
Several students and a parent spoke against the fee, too.
"One hundred dollars is a lot of money," said Tiffany Ott, noting that students are encouraged to participate in sports and other after school activities that limit their opportunities to earn money for such fees.
Emily Zimmerman, another student, agreed, saying some students did not want to burden their parents with the fees.
"It's hard to be a good student and hold down a job," she said.
In order to rescind the fee, a board member who supported the fee in July must initiate a motion. The motion cannot be made by a board member who originally voted against the parking fee.

that my birth mom had passed away.
I told her how sorry I was. My next question was
how are you holding up. Not just because her
mom had passed away. But because she has lost
her grandson, her cousin, and her mom all within
3 weeks. Her husband died three years ago from cancer.
She was very close with her cousin Karen. Karen had
battled cancer and lost. She was so young. To young.
Karen had been her rock after her husband died.
Her grandson, there just are no words.
Now her mom. Her mom had lived with her for the last
12 years and she had taken care of her when she got so
She has a deep faith, but even those of us with a deep
faith have breaking points.
We kept her busy when we were up there and the
grand kids were over ALL the time. 6 grand kids all
under the age of 5. I thought I was at a daycare.
She is a very strong woman.
We should all have such faith.
I admire her very much for all that she's been through
and she keeps pulling her self up and does not let the bad
things that happen keep her from remembering all the good.
One you do not remember, the other you call mother.
Two different lives, shaped to make your one...
One became your guiding star, the other became your sun.
The first gave you life and the second taught you to live it.
The first gave you a need for love, and the second was there to give it.
One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name.
One gave you a seed of talent, the other gave you an aim.
One gave you emotions, the other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears.
One gave you up ... that's all she could do.
The other prayed for a child and God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me, through your fears,
the age old question unanswered throughout the years...
Heredity or environment, which are you the product of?
Neither, my darling neither.
Just two different kinds of love.

referendum,, we the taxpaying citizens of Evansville have to know
how much between the waste water treatment plant and the lake
is this going to add to our taxes?? IF the lake and treatment plant
were to both be done, that is going to add a nice chunk to our taxes
IF both projects were to be on the books, there is just NO way our
taxes would not take a jump... We all need to know HOW much.
We can not do without the waste water treatment plant. That is clear.
But the lake.. is a want...
What will the Packers do for a back up? Not the two young guys they

'On a summer day in the 1930s, 2,000 people were reported to be at Lake Leota's shore escaping the heat. Church groups from neighboring communities sent busloads of youth groups to cavort, and Highway 14 regularly dispensed travelers from Illinois to overnight camping at the lake or using one of the tiny cabins. What followed were years of up and down water levels, dredging efforts, draw downs, clean outs, dam repairs, and, not surprisingly, referendums. In April 1982, voters decided 429 to 213 to approve spending $200,000 to restore the lake. A similar vote in 1990 was 515 to 247 in favor of dredging, this time at a cost of $300,000. By 1993, just repairing the dam cost $190,000, and no dredging was done.'
In 1982 there was a Referendum to approve spending of 200,000.00
In 1990 a vote to spend 300,000.00
So these went to referendums at a fraction of the price of what they
are suggesting now.
Way back in 1982 they knew there were issues and did nothing?
So now the price tag is huge.
It would seem as though this lake has had a history of
indecision surrounding it for years.
Because it is a expensive thing to have just because its pretty.
I am curious what is dredging efforts?

This was sent to me. Please take the time to read and sign.
From a nurse:I'll never forget the look in my patients' eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the Doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patients, giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank You' they muttered. A is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a Mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it! Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. If you're receiving this, it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same. There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through' Mastectomy where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.Lifetime Television has put this bill on their Web page with a petition drive to show support. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE!! Sign the petition by going on the web site below. You need not give more than your name, state, and zip code. This takes about 2 seconds. PLEASE PASS THIS ON to your friends andfamily, and on behalf of all women, THANKS

what the council does. They have never even set foot in city
hall. Never been to a town meeting. Some don't care to do
any of the above. Some simply live here. That is another reason
why this lake issue has to go to referendum. Some are just simply
not aware. There are a lot of people who do not get the review.
I have been to many city council meetings, park board meetings.
I did go to
smart growth a couple times and I have gone to many planning
Quite frankly unless there is a huge project on the table
most people don't even think about what they do.
Really, from the meetings I have been to. There's a lot of little
things that go on that most people don't realize. Some down right
boring things. But that is why it is called a meeting.
Do some of you realize some of those people have been on the
council for years....
I find MOST of them to be honest, forth coming people. MOST.
I think people who have their own agenda it make them not so
honest, as you represent the people not your self. You need to be
able to work for your district not yourself. Most do.
A lot of the things they work on or decide no one cares about. But
maybe if we were paying more attention to the little things there
would be money for the lake without a question. Like the bricks
did we really need those. No. How much and over budget at that.

I respect most of them on their as they are honest. Even when I
don't agree with them . Be honest and I will have no problem.
They S.O.L.E. committee has not been honest. They have not given
answers when asked. There is someone ( very clear who it was)
who used to leave me posts saying I was wrong. Yet when I invited
this person to tell me just what I was wrong on, and I would post it
they NEVER did. YOU would think they would have wanted to
get the information out there. But the fact is I was not wrong, and
this person knew it. Then the s.o.l.e committee released how much
the lake was going to cost, and it was the numbers I had been stating
I knew because I asked someone on the park board.
When it comes to the council I like

agree with some of the ways he votes, but he does a good job
at meetings of taking control, and explaining things. Of asking
questions. He knows the ins and outs of the issues better than
most. I don't think he has his own agenda. If he does I have not
found what it is yet.
Dennis - My alder person- He is honest. He tells me how he feels on different
issues and we don't always agree. We don't have to. He is pretty
open minded and fair. He is a good guy.
Todd- My other new alder. Nothing like initiation by fire. But like I said
before I have nothing against him personally . I hope he really
wanted to run and was not talked into it.
Dianne- She's a good lady. Been on the council a long time. I have talked
to her several times, watched how she has voted. I don't always
agree with her either but I think she makes a honest attempt to
know the issues and make a intelligent vote.
Tom- He is funny. He has been on there quite a while as well. He knows
the issues. Quite often I have not agreed with him, but that is o.k.
Every once in a while he surprises me. He asks good questions as
well. I like the fact he excuses himself without question from votes
involving anything involving the Night Owl.
Tony- I am going to come right out and say I don't know much about him.
Janis- Wow, some one in that district should have run against her. Do you
think it is just coincidence she ended up as chair of the park board?
She was one of the key people who pushed through Westfield Meadows
and the city is still paying for that. She has her own agenda.
Mayor Sandy Decker- I would really be curious to know why she ran for mayor.
She definitely has her own agenda. I will leave it at that.
THIS LAKE ISSUE. I can tell you right now if it goes to referendum and passes.
You will never hear another negative word about it from me, as it will be fair, that
is what make America and this country great everyone gets a chance to help decide.
If I had to say one good thing about the lake project. It would be I am glad to see
they dropped doing the creek walls at this time. I get the feeling they will just add
them into the budget at a later time but we will see.
I don't like the fact that they have said all along ' restore lake leota so you can boat
and swim in it again.' We now know that's not true. It is deceiving. I guess the other
is with boating, where are you going to go??? It is kind of a funny thought because
that lake is not that big.
So we all really have to wonder if the pennies were watched more closely when it
comes to city spending, how much might we have had by now to put towards the

interesting and disturbing.
The lake is not going to be dredged deep enough for boats.
YET this is the claim that has been made for months now.
" Bring back the lake so the kids can swim, and you can once
again boat on lake leota."
That is in print many, many places. That statement alone.
So now we are hearing that it will not be deep enough to boat?
So it was a LIE> ???? To get people excited about fixing the lake?
and spending millions on it? How about the swimming issue? Who
the hell is going to let their kids swim in that lake?
First of all, there is a lot of crap in that lake water. A lot of run off
from farm fields.
Also it is a huge liability. If some one were to drowned or get hurt
this city would be sued many times over. You can put 'swim at your
own risk .' signs up every five feet any good lawyer would march right
through those and any waiver some many have signed.
How about the park board voting to suggest no referendum at the
price tag of 1.4 million? ,, when really the lowest price so far is 1.7
million.. So was it a mistake or a lie?
Lie, mistake, distortion all have the same effect.
Distortion is a lie.

original. Seldom are. But once in a while you walk away saying
well that was better than the first.
I want to continue on today with saying that I know Todd, I have
been in his store, and praised the sandwiches. Good food.
But I don't know him outside that store.
He may do well as a alder person. My disgust is not with
him. The only way I would have a issue with him personally
is if when Ben put in his application, someone(HMMM) from
the council went to Todd, and told him not to worry about it
he was their guy. I would not put it past a couple on the council
who are desperate to make sure votes go their way.
Now if that were the case, then yes I would have a problem with
Todd. He needs to have a backbone and do the right thing.
I used the word 'plant' yesterday and had someone say there are
different meanings for plant. I meant it in the way that he is there
to fill this spot until April and to vote how the Mayor wants him to vote.
But if he were a plant of the green nature what kind of plant would he
be? I can picture him as plant sitting at the city council table. I pictured
him both ways, a walking plant with legs, and just your standard plant.
I ruled out all out door plants to many to choose from.
As a house plant he would not be a fern, he is well groomed. No funky
hair for him.
I have decided to make him a African violet for now, giving him benefit
of the doubt. I could have made him a cactus. But I did not.
Time will tell what kind of a ' plant' Todd will be.

for fill in, or should I say 'plant' for the fourth district.
Really I was surprised, because you go to the Observer, click on the post
and listen to the questions they were asked and how they answered, between
Ben and Todd.
Ben was very articulate, and honest and forth coming.
Todd was evasive is the nice way to put it.
Especially when it came to questions about the lake.
When I talked with Ben earlier this week, I asked him why he would
like to be our alder person I was impressed with his answer.
I liked his answer about the lake question, even though we did not see
eye to eye , he was honest.
I asked him if he had a backbone. He said yes. I believe him.
Todd may be well intentioned, but he is a plant. Ben answered the
questions with much more detail and thought.
The one thing about this 'plant', is he does not have to be watered.
I strongly urge Ben to run in April, and I will be talking with him
as will our neighbors about doing just that.
Go to the Observer and listen to the qs&answers, then you decide
who did a better job.
They are both familiar with the business world.
Like I said before this was nothing more than a 'plant' to make
sure they have someone who will vote how the city wants.

The park board has voted to recommend NO REFERENDUM REGARDING
THE LAKE. I could say a lot of different things. But I won't. Because
it is not up to the park board. It is nothing more than a suggestion.
Well I have a few suggestions. The S.O.L.E. COMMITTEE needs to
quit hiding behind the Park Board and Common Council. They have
yet to inform the citizens of Evansvillle any real details of this lake
project. THE S.O.L.E. COMMITTEE wants this 1.7-2.6 million
project to be decided by a few. I don't think so.
It would be political suicide. AS Mason said himself he has gotten
enough calls on this , that he has concerns. He also asked the rep.
from the S.O.L.E. COMMITTEE what they were afraid of. Why
did they not want a referendum if they were so sure it WAS GOING
TO PASS. What is the fear??
Maybe the fear is , in a town of 4000+ they have done very little
to get the details of the project out. Because the details are its going
to cost between 1-7-2.6 Million, they can not make those numbers
They claimed there was misinformation in the Gazette article a few
weeks ago. There was NO misinformation. IT came from the mayor.
The fact is many people, do not want the lake if it carrys that price tag.
NOT with the economy the way it is. People losing jobs, taxes. How
can the city justify that kind of money at this time, when every one
else is cutting back, looking for ways to pay for gas, food, utilities.
This is not a time to add to our taxes.
This is what we need to see from the S.O.L.E. COMMITTEE FULL DISCLOSURE.
How much is the total cost of this project, including with the creek walls and
without the re-doing the creek walls.
How much for just dredging the lake.
How much will this add to our taxes, and over how many years.
This needs to be a community decision not decided by just a few.
I URGE EVERYONE TO GO TO THE MEETING OR CONTACT YOUR ALDER PERSON
SAY WE WANT A REFERENDUM. WE WANT OUR VOICES HEARD.
THE MEETING IS TUESDAY NIGHT, CITY HALL..
IF THIS IS TRULY WHAT THE CITIZENS WANT, LET THEM, THE TAX
PAYERS VOTE ON THIS LAKE PROJECT.
THAT'S THE LEAST OUR COUNCIL CAN DO.
This needs to go to a referendum, and before the referendum the S.O.L.E. committee
needs to hold town hall, forums, just call it a plain old meeting regarding this lake
project, get the information out there. There is still time to do that.
To not hold a referendum suggests, deception. It suggests there is something to
hide, and you don't want everyone to have a chance to have a say. That does
Call your alderperson, or go to the meeting on Tuesday night.
I was impressed with the crowd, a standing ovation in the beginning of the game.
Then Aaron Rogers went to work. I wanted him to suck. I did.
But he didn’t .
Even the interception in the first half was not his fault. I will give him that.
He seemed very comfortable.
What about Donald Driver?? I love that guy. He looked aw some.
What about Jones going in for the touch down after losing his helmet.
So Mr. Rogers I do hope you do well this year. You are going to need to do well.
I hope you stay healthy and don’t break any toe nails. Be tough like Brett.
I want you to kick some Viking butt. You will earn big points by beating Minnesota.
Time will tell. Some people say pre-season does not count. I think in a way they can
be very telling. But Mr.Rogers left before the half and then it went down hill so who

on for a year now. But the lawsuit has now actually been
filed. WHY was this not settled?
Any practice I have been to , if you are not in proper
equipment you either get it or go home.
Why were schedules not posted, where all could find them.
Why did she have to track down some one everyday to get
proper equipment or into the locker room.
These things should have been arranged as she was a member
of the team. NO one else had to go through what she did.
Where were the coaches when she was out on the field without
This is not the first complaint filed against Grovesteen and his coaches.
Heidi Carvin does not believe it is true. She did not think her staff would
break laws in regards to the State Truancy laws but they did as it was proven.
So her thinking it was not true, means nothing.
I have said for years now there needs to be a different process for filing
complaints against the school or staff. Because as it stands now staff
investigates.. HMMMMM,,,,, ... They never think they are guilty.
To admit guilt , means liability..
The other thing is this young lady's mom is a teacher in the district.
She is not going to file a false claim, while working here.
Remember folks this is not the first complaint against this coach&staff.
After a while it makes people begin to wonder.
But they continue to win so officials look the other way.
Thats what this is about.
to Brett. We will be watching every game. Brett first
Packers second. Thompson has taken away the fun of
watching the Packers. A lot of commentators and some
NFL players are already predicting this will be a nightmare
year for Aaron Rogers. That they think this stuff has got in
his head. Other NFL players think for what little they have
seen of him they will have no problem shutting him down.
It makes me almost afraid to watch. But I will on Monday
night. Preseason or not. It will be telling.
Part of me feels bad for him, most of me does not. I think
he has shown to much attitude for some one who has not
shown us if he can play or not.
Good Luck Brett!!!! Go Jets!!!

the wind turbine issue. Interesting, yet unfortunate.
As there is no good place around here to put those monsters
that won't effect people's health and daily activities.
My next question would be where would this money go that
they think they would save by using 'wind power.' It is a very
small percentage I was told they hope to generate. I doubt
we would ever notice a change in our bill as the city would find
another way to spend the money. History.
Not worth the dangers to the community and surrounding area.
do you shop more in town than you used to?
We don't. We just make the most of our trips. We do our weekly shopping
and make sure we have a list, if nothing else.
Woodmans for food
Mounds for animal supplys
Menards for home things.
Library in Madison or Janesville, as they have almost anything we
want. No waiting.
If its something small we of course shop here in town.
My friend made a major purchase this last week, not in town
but out. The money we STILL save is worth the drive. NOT only
that but grocery prices have gone up even more at the PIG, so it
just does not even out.
Most of the people I have talked with said the same thing, they work
in either Madison or Janesville, and they just make sure they stop
at the store before they head home.
So I laughed when the news today at noon featured evansville and how
people are shopping in town. NOW who do you think put them up to
In fact I applaud Mike McCarthy for doing his best to be discreet about
what was said. Finally a little class from some one in the Packer Organization.
I realize Brett is not coming back to the Packer's. My hopes dashed. But
yet realizing all along it was not going to be pretty if he did.
But I am so sorry that he feels so betrayed by the Packer Organization.
I watched post press conference yesterday. One of the guys said Brett
takes things to personally. HOW DO YOU NOT? When you have given
your heart, soul and life to this organization for 16 years?
When you have sacrificed time with family and watching your kids grow up?
For what? To be told your not welcome in Green Bay.
I bet Thompson treats his dog better than that.
Michael Strahan came to Brettt's defense yesterday stating Brett
should be the starting QB there is just no way around it. He also
said should Aaron Rogers be the starting QB, and they lose. The
guy is going to need the witness protection program. And what
better place to be in the witness protection program but Wisconsin
because ya kind find anyone in Wisconsin anyway. Now I am not
sure what he meant by that. But he is right. Unless this is a stellar
year for the Packers this story is not going to die.
People will be questioning the Packer's all season , unless it s as
good as last year, or better.
I am sorry Brett feels so betrayed, but as one of the ESPN commentators
said yesterday. This did not start back in March. The hurt feelings
and bad blood started long ago, possibly years. About the time
Ted Thompson came in. Thompson is the root of all Packer evil.
I hope they can his butt.
I wish Brett the best, even as a Buccaneer or worse. (Viking) I will
watch and support him all the way. May have to get NFL network
Mr.Oates in the Wisconsin State Journal put it best today when he
said. McCarthy and Thompson will be the two remembered as the
ones who drove Brett Favre out of Green Bay.
We love you Brett, Best of Luck To You..

I took more crap from my brother-in-law who is a huge Cubs fan. When
the Brewers managed to CHOKE in their recent series with the CUBS.
But now fighting each other? This just takes it... Nice..
to this type of 'marketing survey' .
How could the parents have not questioned any part of
this guy's story?
people , then fight their own fate death?
Some claim its not humane? Was it humane when your
victim was stabbed, shot, tortured? What ever there
case may have held.
So funny how they thought nothing of taking someone
elses life but will fight for theirs.
I am not for the death penalty or against it . Just on the
fence. But am amazed when these killers want mercy.
White House press secretary to fix their p.r. mess?
There is no quick fix. The damage is done.
FIRE TED THOMPSON THAT WILL GO ALONG WAY. Let Brett
play if NOT for the Packer's some where else.
Finish it. Quit dragging it out. We don't
need soaps to watch in Wisconsin we have the
Packer Soap to watch.

Where is my bucket?
Why not the Bears? They don't have a decent QB.
I guess the attitude we have to take is the one
Aaron Rogers says he is taking. I can't control it,
so let it go. It will be what it will be.
Some how in private I doubt he is that calm about it.
But he has been told to watch what he says.
After his put up or shut up comment.
Will I cheer for Brett if he is a Viking. Yes I would.
Against the Packers?
Game day decision.
had been filled.
Last week I was told NO that is not true. So here we are back
looking for someone to fill that spot.
MY FIRST CHOICE WOULD BE- Richard Woulfe. However I would much
rather see him on the school board.
Second- I told Richard that I like having him on my side of the table.
That like having him report on city affairs , he does it with no agenda.
Which makes it honest.
Same thing with the school board, he would represent honestly, and give
So back to looking for someone to fill that spot for fourth district. Over the last year, I have had many people ask , if I don't like it why don't I run.
Well at this point, I am very tainted. I see how this city is run. This
town would be a nice town to live in if you can get past the politics.
Not only that but I would have a ' NO' rubber stamp. Because there has
been so much foolish spending the last few years someone needs to
tell them NO, The biggest bad idea was the rumble strip in the downtown area.
Dumping hundreds of thousands of dollars into the Eager building which at
this point is showing it does not just ' pull' in the business. Business may
move in but that just leave another empty spot in the downtown. They are
gaining nothing. The only thing, I will say for it , it is beautiful. Should be
for what it cost.
I PERSONALLY CAN NOT THINK OF ANYONE ELSE I WOULD LIKE TO SEE
AS ALDERPERSON FOR OUR WARD. WHO WOULD NOT HAVE THEIR OWN
However there are a lot of people in the fourth ward. It only takes one good one.

anyone close to me until I was 31.
My dad died when I was 31. It is odd how watching someone
die and not being able to do a thing about it changes someone.
How you question a lot of things in life, God, Dr's, People, daily
activities, priorities. I remember being so angry there was nothing
they could do for him.
Died from lung cancer but never smoked a day in his life.
The Dr's comment about it being so aggressive normally
the kind they see in smokers has always stuck with me.
Good old second-hand smoke.
My grandfather died within 6 months of my dad.
Grandma two years later.
My neighbor three years ago.
My brother-in-law the day after my neighbor.
My mother-in-law two years ago.
Dane Wourms A year ago this last April.
Our friend this summer in a motorcycle accident.
Dale Bryant a month ago.
Then two weeks ago my nephews son. 2 1/2 months old.
He died from S.I.D.S.
We did not let our younger kids go to the funeral. How do
you even begin to explain such a thing.
An innocent babe goes to sleep, and just never wakes up.
So very devasting.
The devastation to my nephew and his wife.
What can you say. What do you say. I went to write a short
note in the card, and could not do it.
There is nothing to say except I am so sorry. We love you .
We are thinking of you, and praying for you.
Even though words are pretty hollow, when dealing with such
That day that my sister called to tell me. When I saw she had
called I had a bad feeling. I had just talked to her the day
before. We usually only call each other every other week.
When I think about everything that has happened the last few
months. I have to dig deep , and remember that God does
not give us more than we can handle.
However then I wonder how does God know? That everything
happens for a reason. What reason can there be for someone to suffer from cancer, and die. Not get to watch his grand
kids grow up, retire and enjoy life. To do the things he wanted to.
That he had saved so he could do.
Jared Fredrickson I think of him daily. I pray for his family.
For our friend to leave this earth way to early and leave two
young kids and wife behind.
For two young kids to lose their dad, I see Hannah and Trevor
often and every time I talk with them, I walk away thinking I
can't even imagine. My heart breaks for them.
My nephew and his wife. How do they go on, where do they start?
Do they as a couple survive this? A lot of couples who lose a child
I think all this has taught me to treasure each day, and take nothing
for granted. We are not promised tomorrow or next hour even.
Don't put things off thinking you have more time. Do the things you
want now. If something is important people find the way.
My dad could have retired five years, before he died, and he kept
putting it off, thinking he had more time.
Kiss your kids tell them daily, you love them.
Tell your loved ones you love them daily.
I have continued to pray and believe in God, I believe it is God
who sees us through the trying times. That he is with us, even when
we are sure he is not.
Hug your kids.
out. It's funny how it was the Packer prez who
made the announcement. We have hardly heard from
him at all during this entire thing.
There is a press conference tomorrow to explain
how things are going to work. We will be watching.
it's a scam. Offshore drilling won't save any money at the pumps for years (although it will boost oil company profits).
McCain is so focused on drilling because he knows people are anxious enough about energy costs to make this the issue of the 2008 elections. When you're worried about how you're going to afford the drive to work, or how you're going to get your kids to school, and you have no other short-term options—you'll be open to anything that might help. McCain is preying on that anxiety by offering offshore drilling as a quick fix.
Offshore drilling won't fix gas prices or our dependence on foreign oil. There simply isn't enough oil offshore or in the Arctic, and it will take up to a decade to get what little is there. Even then, we would only save 3 or 4 cents a gallon!1
Offshore drilling is a gimmick—but it will be the gimmick that works for John McCain if we don't push back now. Our new ad has a regular-looking guy telling the truth straight into the camera. Isn't that the best thing for people to hear right now?

what's a good price for something or not. How much is too much.
Our oldest had asked us to pick up a cooler for him if we found
one. Being he went camping and 'forgot or lost' our cooler. We
informed him the first cooler I found he was buying to replace ours.
I should have made him buy a new one as ours was fairly new. However
was fine with just having our cooler replaced.
We saw several coolers nice, clean, no cracks. The cooler I got to
replace ours was 1.00. Big, Clean, Good Shape.
We saw several other coolers yesterday, and for some reason the
price I saw on two of the three was 8.00. For coolers that were not
as big or nice as the one I got for 1.00. I refused. These same
coolers sell for 20.00 NEW as walmart. The one cooler was broken,
the handle and the wheel was cracked, making us think it would
eventually fall off or apart. Not doing it.
So when we got home our son was getting ready for work(2nd shift)
and thought the cooler I got was for him. We explained about the others
being over priced and how we were not doing it. Not paying that much
for an old broken cooler.
He was mad. They are going to camping next this week so really
needed a cooler. He did not care if it was over priced, since it
held ice and food. It was not a big deal to him to pay 8.00 for the
We asked him if you go to the mall and see a pair of jeans you want
and they are 40.00, you go to the farm and fleet and find those same
jeans, for 33.00 where are you going to buy those jeans?
Farm and Fleet.
You are not going to go out of your way to spend 7.00 more if you don't have
to . You are going to want to get the best deal.
He makes a good income and has very little bills. He pays us rent and has his
cell phone bill. That's it. So he has enough extra cash that he does not always
understand that sometimes you wait and shop around a little bit before making
Before he went to work he and I went back out to a couple garage sales. He
found a cooler he liked, for 3.00 and told the guy, sold.
On our way home I told our son I don't care if it's a garage sale or not
some things are over priced and you have to watch for that.
I told him I would have bought a new cooler for 20.00 before spending 8.00
on a used. The 20..00 dollar one would be new, in excellent shape and not
have a broken handle and wheel.
I think as people garage sale you quickly realize who is truly trying to
clean out their closets and who is trying to fill their pockets.
When we got home my son asked if he could exchange his cooler for mine.
My 1.00 cooler was still bigger than his 3.00 cooler. Which was fine we
let him exchange.
I am hoping as he gets older he will be more careful about looking for deals
and not just buying something because it's there in front of him.
